I am a Chartered Occupational Psychologist with a focus on helping individuals, groups and organisations in assessment during selection to achieve a better candidate/job fit, and in the development of  interpersonal and leadership skills.  I have a track record in building long-term client relationships by developing and delivering straight forward, cost effective solutions that provide tangible results.

Whilst at Stuart Robertson & Associates Ltd I enjoyed working with clients such as the Ministry of Defence, Independent Police Complaints Commission, North Wales Police, Merseyside Fire & Rescue, Wulvern Housing Assoc., Warrington BC, Manchester Met University, Nottingham University Medical School as well as private sector clients like Linklaters and a large soft drinks distributor.

As an independent consultant based in the North West of England I am working with individuals and organisations to apply evidence based best practice to assist in delivering services that address important issues:

Selection

  • Why does your organisation select people in the way that it does?
  • How effective is this practice in terms of predicting future job performance?
  • Are you looking to improve how you assess candidates and make selection decisions?

In the current economic climate I believe that these questions are fundamental to good business management. Improving the fit between a candidate and an intended job role will save you time and money and often allow you to build on your existing selection procedures.   Selection doesn’t have to be a complicated process, but increasing your chance of getting it right matters.

Learn what research tells us are the selection method ‘greatest hits’ and how you can use them in your recruitment process to increase your chances of making the right appointment.

Development

  • How much time does your organisation allow for skills development?
  • Do your managers and leaders have a positive impact on colleagues?
  • Practical deliverer or strategic big picture thinker – how do you prefer to solve problems?

Understanding how people differ in their approach to tasks and relationships and using this knowledge in an appropriate way can make a big difference to your personal impact at work.  Working with individuals, teams or wider groups, I help clients to appreciate their own style and how this differs from others.  Learn about your strengths and develop skills which are relevant to the challenges you face.

Learn about personality styles at work and about skills development in leadership and management or specific topics like giving feedback, handling conflict, being persuasive, inspiring others, time management, or thinking creatively.
